Some of the local social and cultural activities they undertake include career development opportunities for locals, sponsorship assistance for community events, and purchasing locally produced products. Guests are also able to join in on a number of traditional cultural activities that the resort promotes including some of island's dancing, drumming, traditions and history - hear the stories, myths, and legends of our fascinating islands and ancestors.

Traditional crafts such as Palm Frond weaving can be purchased, and you can even take lessons to create your own authentic Cook Islands memento. Guests can also take Ukulele and Pareu (Sarong) lessons with some of the locals.

Their main focus is the protection of the marine life which is rapidly disappearing from the lagoons around the island. The Rarotongan Beach Resort is just a stone's throw from the waters of the Aroa Marine Reserve, where this protected sanctuary is home to a healthy and diverse marine life, and is sheltered by the outlying reef.

Here, guests can swim, snorkel, kayak and explore the reserve at any time in complete safety, as boating and fishing are prohibited in the lagoon - resulting in an area where the marine life of the island can flourish.
